La Vernia, Texas – La Vernia ISD proudly marked the grand opening of a new addition to the Primary School campus with a community celebration on the evening of Wednesday, November 19. The dedication event highlighted the district’s continued investment in students, educators, and the future of the La Vernia community.
The new addition includes 10 modern classrooms, an art room, two teacher workrooms, and a significant expansion of the Primary Library—creating dynamic new spaces for reading, creativity, and collaborative learning. Upgrades also include relocated playgrounds, enhanced safety features such as improved camera systems and electronic door locks, and improved communication systems throughout classrooms and hallways.
“These walls are more than brick and mortar,” said Superintendent Dr. Hensley Cone during the ceremony. “They are spaces where our youngest Bears will discover new ideas, ask big questions, and grow in confidence. They are spaces where curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning will take root”.
The evening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, remarks from the Superintendent, and opportunities for guests to tour the new wing. Visitors were welcomed into the new building to view the beautiful classrooms and enjoy refreshments in the new Art Room. A special photo backdrop at the end of the hallway provided families and guests with a way to capture memories from the occasion.
La Vernia ISD extends special thanks to the Board of Trustees for their leadership, the former board members who supported Bond 2023, and partners AGCM, Pfluger Architects, and Bartlett Cocke Construction for their expertise and dedication throughout the project.
“This is an investment in our kids, in our teachers, and in the future of this community,” said Dr. Cone. “May it serve our students well for years to come—and remind us that investing in kids is always worth it”.
